I've been counseling in the Raleigh area for 18 years now. I love helping those who feel afraid or stuck or frustrated with issues and themes that don't seem to easily heal or leave or end - because I've been there; I know the feeling. In my own Story, I've had to fight hard and search far and deep for answers for the healing I've needed...

“It is a matter of presence. A sage does not have to be heard… There is room in his presence for who you are and where you are. There is understanding. He has no agenda, and nothing now to lose. What he offers, he offers with kindness, and discretion, knowing by instinct those who have ears to hear, and those who don’t. Thus his words are offered in the right measure, at the right time, to the right person. He will not trouble you with things you do not need to know, nor burden you with things that are not yet yours to bear, nor embarrass you with exposure for shortcomings you are not ready yet to overcome, even though he sees all of that. For he is wise, and compassionate.”

(John Eldredge, Fathered by God, p. 201)

I counsel every clinical issue/topic that folks seek counseling for in the DSM, including Personality Disorders and the list of Issues Commonly Addressed - except active Substance Addictions and Food-related concerns.

I also counsel non-clinical matters; examples include Career and Calling, Adolescent development, Masculine development, Self-concept and Existential angst. And many of my Counseling clients transition into a Spiritual Formation/Discipleship relationship with me after their counseling work is complete.  To learn way too much more about me, LOL, visit: clarkchristiancounselor.com

I am an avid walker/hiker (most enjoyable with my Wife), I am forever working on my tennis game, enjoy reading and watching documentaries, and to the question, "Beach or Mountain?", I respond, "Lake!" 😎

I look forward to hearing from you!

We all have expectations of how our life will go - so what do we do when life brings us pain and obstacles instead?

It wasn't until my darkest hour that I discovered how God chooses to work through interpersonal relationships to reveal His Grace, Love, and Hope in Christ. Having been a counseling client myself, I found the greatest comfort and progress comes from counseling experiences that are authentically demonstrating those characteristics. Whatever you are facing, I want to hear your story and work with you to find healing, renewed purpose, and establish tools to aid in building resilience for the inevitable difficulties you will encounter down the road of your life.

My areas of interest include (but are not limited to) Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Depression, Sexual/Pornography Addictions, Anger, and Spiritual Growth.

I was born and raised in Raleigh, NC where I now live with my beautiful wife, son, and our fluffy Great Pyrenees. As a North Carolina native, I love visiting the beach and traveling to the mountains to hit the slopes in the winter. Sports, fitness, and reading just about any book I can get my hands on have always been passions of mine - and I love learning what other people are passionate about!

Reaching out for counseling can be intimidating; seeking help is such a courageous first step!

I look forward to talking with you soon!

After experiencing my own heartache and brokenness in life, I had nowhere to turn but to God - and He met me with comfort, love, and healing. It was during that season I felt God call me to Counseling as a profession. I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else! I truly LOVE what I do!

I counsel individuals in areas such as (but not limited to) Depression, Anxiety, Life-transitions, Anger, Grief, Spiritual Growth, and Trauma.

I have completed various continuing education courses focused on trauma-informed care including, Trauma, Self-Image, and Spiritual Formation: How Trauma Impacts How We See Ourselves and God and Treating Trauma: Basic Skills and Specific Treatments. I draw from several therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy, tailoring counseling to each client’s unique needs and experiences. These modalities help clients recognize how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected, while also exploring how early experiences and unconscious patterns may influence present struggles. I integrate these approaches to help clients gain insight, develop practical tools, and work toward meaningful and lasting change.

I believe meaningful healing involves tending to the whole person as God intentionally created each of part to work together in perfect harmony. Scripture tells us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, and I believe God cares deeply about every part of who we are and every part of our story. I also consider God to be the ultimate counselor, and therefore, use a Christ-centered, Biblical approach in my work with clients.

Jesus tells us that our lives will be filled with trouble, and His life was no exception. Even though life isn’t easy, we have hope in Jesus; He may not always remove our problems, but He will help us grow through the problems and grow closer to Him. My desire is to be as Christ - a clear voice of reason, hope, love, and wisdom. Jesus said, “I have told you these things, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Even in the midst of our brokenness there is the promise that the Lord will not abandon us; we know He will walk with us through our suffering. I try to walk beside my Clients just as the Lord does, praying that my clients can feel God’s love shine through me and come to see themselves through the eyes of the Lord!

I am a Colorado native who moved to the beautiful state of North Carolina in 2018. In my free time I enjoy hiking, going to the beach, and trying new food with my husband. I also enjoy being outside and taking walks – time that allows me to reflect, pray, and draw closer to God.

I look forward to hearing from you!

To learn more about Lance:

What one-on-one counseling is like
One-on-one counseling is private time with a licensed counselor who takes the health of your soul - and your faith - seriously. You talk through what’s going on, and your counselor provides insight, suggesting adjustments to help you work out your next steps.

Who comes in

Our counselors see adults, young adults, and teens most commonly dealing with mental health concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, big life changes, anger, and questions about purpose. Krista also works with neurodivergent clients and with eating and body-image concerns. For a much more comprehensive list of how we can help, click here.

Where faith fits

We are unique in the way we blend approaches of counseling, psychology, Scripture, Inner Healing, Spiritual Formation, Spiritual Direction, and prayer. Our founder, Lance, created this blend and regularly trains his Staff in this blended approach.

Faith is foundational to the work we do. We often hear relieved and excited first-time contacts tell us, ‘I’ve spent years looking for someone who does what you do’. Lance has been doing this in the Raleigh area for eighteen years.

Getting started

Your first session is mostly about being heard. After that, you and your counselor pick a few goals and decide how often to meet. You can come to our Cary offices or the Fuquay-Varina office, or meet by video or phone anywhere in North Carolina. Call (919) 812-7535 to set it up. If you and your spouse would rather come in together, we also offer couples and marriage counseling.

Questions people ask before their first visit

How do I pick the right counselor?
Read through the bios on this page, or just call and tell us what’s going on. We’ll point you to the counselor who fits you best.

Is what I say kept private?
Yes. Your sessions are confidential and handled under professional, HIPAA-aware standards. There ARE Laws regarding what CAN'T be kept confidential - but you will be given written explanation about the limits of Confidentiality before you even schedule your first Session. Your counselor will go over further details when you start.

Can I meet online?
Yes. We offer secure video and phone sessions anywhere in North Carolina, so you can meet from home or work.

Is there anything you don’t treat?
We handle most concerns. For active substance addiction, eating disorders, or active psychosis that need a higher level of care, we’ll refer you somewhere that’s the right fit.

Do you combine faith and clinical care?
Yes, that’s how we work. Every counselor is licensed and a Christian, so you get both in the same room.
